UWA Arts
Visited the July event of UWA 3D Art Challenge that was at the voting stage. This is ‘Great Balls of Fire’. The right object is a media screen on which faces or sceneries are projected in time to cool music. That is like a kaleidoscope. The joy of shooting moving arts is to cut out one figure out of ever changing appearance, and it is challenging to find the best shot with a picture that implies the beauty, like shooting a dance show.

‘Living Fractal’: The floating pattern on the multifold screen is a real kaleidoscope. It is a pleasure of the three dimensional arts that allows us to jump in or fly over to get a bird’s eye view.

The beams of light at the middle is ‘Error Code 1.8’. This one also changes the shape. The Living Fractal is at the right. The left is another art. The layout of the presentation is well considered. Changing light or view angle would provide nice look.

‘The Armony (harmony)’: When there are two striped pattern doubled, it causes a moire effect that also happens between a striped object and pixels of a PC being a trouble in shooting. But this one is daringly use the moire in the art. The pattern changes drastically with a slight movement of camera. The white one is a church organ and the moire could be harmony of sounds that shakes up my body and is said to be able to break staind glasses.

‘Fantasy’: This is a part of a large art. On a wall on a rock floating in the air, there is a hand holding a hut like a bird cage, and one of the pigeons is flying outside freely.

In the small bird cage hanging from the huge hand, the world of this art itself is set as a three dimensional miniature. I do not see what this means, but surely this is a fantasy.
There are so many arts presented in this July event, this article will be continued to the next.

JPL
The Mars and Engines are set at Jet Propulsion Laboratory of California Institute of Technology which is at Pasadena and conducts major programs in space-based Earth sciences and astronomy for NASA. According to a picture on the wall, this room seems to be simulating a real world one.(Sorry but I put a wrong picture in the last article.)

There are various researches. This one could be about global warming. There are a graph showing temperature change and a flooded house, but it would be more shocking if there was a demonstration that shows how the water level would be at the LA Airport or Wall Street.

This is next to the Mars surface introduced last time. Not known exactly why but there is an advertisement of FBI homepage and wanted list for cybercrimes. Also in Mars?

There is a sign on a neighboring building. 18 U.S.C. § 799 is “Violation of regulations of National Aeronautics and Space Administration”

A building that has good atmosphere of the California, but nothing inside. They are using several SIMs to demonstrate various technologies, but it doesn’t ring a bell. It could be good since I myself was able to enjoy them and got a chance to learn about Mars Pathfinder or JPL.

Cool vehicle
This also from NASA, named NASA Education. Is this on a way to build something? The jetting out gas is beautiful.

Although the gas is blowing out, it is not flying and not a vehicle, but makes me feel good.

We can fly in SL without any vehicle, but it could be exhilarating to fly around with this.

The true purpose will be to explain engines. This is a turbo fan engine. The blades are turning and combustion gas is flowing. Although this is beautiful, I could be a bit masochistic to stand at such a place.

Mars Airbag
Next to the Spaceport Alpha, there are several NASA SIMs. This is an air bag that was used for touchdown of Mars Pathfinder in 1997.

Sojourner Rover, a thinking robot equipped with sophisticated laser eyes and automated programming reacted to unplanned events on the surface of Mars. I have seen the picture but did not think this was so small, 65cm length and 48cm width. That is why this survived a free fall in the bouncing airbag.

The airbags can be ejected by touching a switch on the observation deck at the top of a hill, so I pounded it to generate a lot of them. It is joy to see them popping out and bouncing down the hill.

There are tornados on Mars. It is a bit frightening to see three big ones coming. Visibility was reduced to almost zero but I got no damage. It would be okay for the rover since the air is thin and the wind power is weak?

Morning Glory
The Vega Festival is over and morning glories were set at Temi’s Teahouse. This flower was used at Edo before.

When I was connecting them at Edo. I think there were more than two hundreds prim used here. Vines, leaves, and flowers are one PRIM each, and should be set and connected one by one. I remember that was quite a job.

Decoration at Temi’s Teahouse at Edo. The hard work did not pay off. I had meant to fill the space with a lot of flowers, but there were not enough prims. Ended up with a kind of mess. May be I am not using them properly. If there is next time, I will find better way to maximize the beauty.

It looks like a watermelon before completing reading. Since it is changing quickly, I took SSs with highest resolution and longest view distance to make it heavy. But it was hard to shoot watermelons with beautiful colors.

By the way, I put some yacht photos that I had taken at my gallery. Nothing special as a photograph, but please feel joy of yachting if you have not experienced yachts that is said to be the most realistic vehicle in SL.
