Flowers

There are many beautiful spots introduced in Yana’s blog. This is one of them. There are many flower gardens in SL but this one is using one full SIM. Many kinds of flowers can be seen while strolling around the SIM. One drawback is that roll-paper type texture is observed if looking down from the air. It is recommended walking.

I was lazy this year and did not put bamboo bush and decorations for Vega Festival. In the meantime the rainy season was over. I rushed to remove the fences with tulips and put some sunflowers. I wish I could have that kind of flower garden like the SIM shown above. I have bought a lot of flowers but still I was not able to make it. It could be a matter of ability…

At the Baba Meeting Area across the street, the swimming pool was frozen over but it has jjust opened. There are many new playing gears set this year and dance balls were renewed. Thank you Kazumi!

Spirited Away

The theme of the Saturday night at Baba was Lupin the 3rd this time, but there are few female characters in that story. So there was a group of Spirited Away, having something to do with Ghibli. Kaonashi (faceless) is Xpyoda, Chihiro is Mizuki, Haku (on the far right) is Hisanori, and Yubaba (bathhouse witch) is me.

Mizuki is a blogger and upped the image soon. How can she shoot such a beautiful one at the same situation? She said that there was no after treatment and custom lighting was used. I was using the sunset condition as usual. There was also Kamajii (Boiler geezer) here, but it iwas only his nickname (prissy joskin in Japanese) and the appearance was a girl. Also there were Lupin the 3rd with green jacket, Zigen, and Goemon. Kazumi, sorry for disturbing the image.

Yacht rules

At the Trenza Yacht Club, we have used only two rules so far:
1. Starboard tack preference
2. leeward yacht preference

Now we will add the following three rules.
3. Overtake with care: Overtaking yacht should avoid the one in front.
4. No blocking: A yacht with preference should not block others intentionally.
5. Inside first; When rounding buoys, outside yacht should give water to inside one.

Let us practice the first two again. The one from right has advantage over the one from the left. At real races, most yacht start from the right side. In the following pictures, blue shows a yacht that has preference, and red should yield.

If two yachts are coming closer, the leeward (blue) has preference and the windward (red) should give water.

Although the leeward yacht has preference, it should not change the course toward wind over the proper course. Proper course means a line that would be taken when there is no other yacht. Normally it is about 45 degrees toward wind when sailing upwind. Anyway, you should not disturb others intentionally.

When rounding buoys, an inside yacht has preference. This rule overrides rule 1 and 2. The yacht coming from outside should provide enough water for the inside yacht to make turn. You should not try to block the inside yacht by reaching the buoy first.

Running after the blue buoy. It may be hard to get speed in this section. It is advantageous to go from right, harder to increase speed on the right side. Also the inside yacht has preference, in these cases the blue one is leeward yacht too. At the yellow buoy turning toward wind, the windward yacht becomes inside and will have preference.

Left side of ship is called ‘port”, and right, ‘starboard’. It can be memorized the word ‘left’ (port) is shorter than ‘right’ (starboard). A situation sailing with wind from right is called ‘starboard tack’, and opposite is ‘port tack’. These words are used often in rules. At running stage, the wind is coming from the opposite side where main sail is out. Tow yachts in the above picture are both ‘port tack’.

Kanda Shrine

Found the Kanda Shrine that had been in old Edo SIMs. Premises are smaller than before, but the same building reminds me of the good old days.

Festivals were held every month. There were hundreds of votive pictures dedicated at the New Year’s visit. Also there were some tour groups from overseas. How have been the members gathered together at the weekly meeting?

The weekly meeting was held at guard house, inner palace of Edo castle, corridor, office in the castle, and also at the donjon. The last meeting was at Sensoji temple at Asakusa.

There are many reminiscences, but the top of them is the wedding ceremony of Kanda family. This picture was taken more than four years ago. On the large cake, there was a stage where traditional ballad singer Yukino Ichikawa performed live at every festival.

Next to the shrine area my house was situated. Six members of the Kanda family were residing at the next house. It was full of life. I was always received into the group. By any chance… I walked around, but there was nothing but a strange streetscape in the evening glow.

Hogwarts

Visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that was introduced by Yana’s blog. It was opened to public until Sunday, but now it is off limits except for students. It is necessary to file an application form to enter the school. It is said that announcements of the test results will be after August 1st if you apply now.

Courtyard carrying nice image of wizardry school. It should be some view if there were many students here with uniform.

Inside of the school. There is nothing special but a school itself has somewhat nostalgic feel.

The central grand stair. Some pictures are still gray, and the portraits did not move or talk to me. Will it become necessary to give the password to open doors?

Some students gathered together at the grand hall. Still they are in plain clothes. There were four Slytherin, two Hufflepuff, and one Gryfindor. Naturally they would prefer Gryfindor, so the class could be designated by the talking hat after application. I gave up filing since the role play seemed difficult.
