Lost Town again

While roaming around, I ran into an interesting town. It looked familiar. This was the town where Haveit Neox had set his wonderful art, ‘Lost Alphabet’.

The square where people were led by Pied Piper, now it is empty and became a real lost town. Please take a look at my old article regarding Haveit’s art.

An abandoned city where all letters and marks disappeared, that accorded so well to the art that I thought the whole city was also made by Haveit himself. Church, factory, and street where a parade of a circus of mechanical figures. I walked around down memory lane.

The square in front of a church. The black figure welcoming them is me having no relation to the art. The outfit is the one available at another art by Haveit, Second Libations. Whenever I enter a 3D art, I am trying to wear suitable clothing, so I picked up this one like a bishop/

These are memorial photos that have no relation to the art, so I did not include these in my blog last time. Other attractive characters by Haveit can be seen in other arts. The below are by previous articles for the arts by Haveit.

This SIM called Lost Town was built by Akilae Gant (French man) and Sici Kelberry (Italian woman), and a place where Akilae and Sivi invite artists to show their works. Haveit exhibit was removed in July and now there is work by the artist Yooma Mayo, ‘Mechanical Circus’.

The art by Yooma is a fantastic ship floating over the ruined town. Wood-like texture is nice.

The followings are from the note card by Yooma..

1. There is the ambiguous world between objects and subjects.
2. ”Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly,
or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.”
3. Only they know answer, who continued the works for life.
4. To connect the cause and effect, and slid the ship,
The circus pass through the lost town slowly.

Fireworks

The end of summer. This year, I have not seen big exhibition of fireworks neither in RL nor SL. Alha kindly invited me to her house with fireworks. It was neat and beautiful adequate to fireworks in late summer.

Alha’s house is a seaside one with exotic atmosphere of a southern land. If I were invited to this nice house, I will be soon fall in love with him, but unfortunately they were all girls on the day. It is possible to rez a cruiser on the shore. My dream in RL is to watch fireworks on a sofa on a flybridge of large cruiser, but I have not done yet. I have not had a chance to encounter such a person…

My dream, cruiser Princess 56. Price is more than US$ 2,000,000. Pier cost is US$ 30,000 a year! There are some proglams available to make honey moon tour by big cruiser, but I cannot do it since I easily get seasick. But in SL, it should be possible to watch fireworks from a cruiser. Could anyone organize an event…

Caverns2

By searching with a word cave, many bars and halls are hit other than actual caves. There was a huge rock floating in the sky containing a big dance hall. This is a cave made by natural trees.

This was also hit, a tunnel under the sea. Terrains or plantation were not made naturally but by creators one by one, so they are impressive in that sense.

A coral reef around some underwater dance hall. There may not be so many visitors here but it has substantial space.

Above the water was a peaceful sea. After all I love yacht. The Trenza Yacht Club has been re-opened and we are practicing every Wednesday. Anyone who would begin yacht with no experience will be welcome. Please visit here about 9:00 to 10:00 pm Japan time.

Caverns

I ran into the PRG while looking for caverns during my summer vacation, after watching TV program regarding Wind Cave at Mt. Fuji. I searched with word ‘cave’ and ‘caverns’, and was visiting all of them one by one, bit did not find few realistic caverns. The following SSs were taken at many place where I cannot remember, and not relating to each other. But entrances are always exciting and expecting.

It seems that it is easy to create caverns in SL, but there is few big one. But it is interesting to walk through branched cave where I cannot see what I will encounter.

This could be the cave in the RPG where a dragon nests. I would like to visit again but they said it had better keep away from a dangerous place. I mentioned I would like to see a dragon but they also advised not to mention it. It will be out of manner of the RPG.

In my childhood in the USA, I was taken to a huge calcareous cave, Luray Caverns. I only remember that it was very large, but it seemed much beautiful than this. Could anyone advise me with Stalactite cave in SL if any?

This is the Staracpipe Organ at Luray Caverns. Many hammers were set on numerous stalactites and generate beautiful sound through the console. I do not recall any sound or music though. This picture is from Wikipedia.

RPG

I did not take any excursion during the summer holidays, so I made global travel in SL and ran into this island, Zolio. Incidentally it was just a beginning of a new role play game, so I participated in it as a visitor.

The time is twelve’s century. There had been a prosperous town. The load was gone, and then big earthquake, storm, and dragon attack destroyed the town completely. I was one of survivors from a wrecked ship, and casted ashore, a foreign girl who knows nothing.

I have not done any RPG, so studied the rule and manner of RPG in a hurry. One of the practices is ‘to emote’ through chat text, which might have been common in RPGs through text. For instance:
“/me looks into her eyes and wants to growl, but only mutters: why have you hidden this information to me all this time...”
‘/me’ will be set at the head of ‘emote’ and colon or quotation mark is set at the start of comment, but some will skip them. Also in the ‘emote’, third-person-pronoun will be used to describe self, but ‘he’ or ‘she’ will be used also for real third person, so it is hard for me…

The characters are; natives living here before the earthquake, newcomers, brothers, dragon that attack human, dark and light elves. The figures on the left are dark elves that were said to be mistrustful evil from human side but they say it is racial segregation. The right is light elf who is accepted in the camp.

There are big variations in human side, such as knight drifted from the wrecked ship, a worrier who tries to be a leader of the camp, a wife who just had a baby, and a lady looking for her missing partner. Also their appearances are unique.

I talked with about twenty characters but still do not see what is going on. The first thing they did was to build up fences around the camp for dragon attack. My summer vacation was over and I cannot log-in at their active time. And I cannot follow the RPG since I am poor at history in twelve’s century. I felt ashamed by asking “Are you from America?” that was not found at that time.

Bird’s eye view of the island. What kind of drama will be developed here in the days to come? They said that they had been running taverns, blacksmith, or pottery shop. Will they rebuild the town? It will be difficult for me to participate in it but I will visit there periodically and ask them to let me see the situation.

If you are interested in, the basics of RPG are explained in the URL above.
If you come in as a visitor, please follow the basic manner. There are some RPGs that will not accept visitors though. In addition to wear suitable clothing, some important matter is ‘metagaming’ that is to use out-of-character (OOC) knowledge that could not be known as a player. I made a mistake to salute watching his name tag. She said “wonders how the lady knew her name who she hasn't met before and smiles "nice to meet you too" (Note that she said “her name” in the emote.)

The difference of RPG from Japanese adventure games such as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest might be that RPG does not have fixed scenario and that characters should be set by themselves. But the text suggested avoiding some characters such as the only survivor of the destroyed village, the last of my kind, security royal, amnesia, or being chased by someone.

It makes me feel a bit insecurity that a firm story and characters are not provided. Especially I am a type of relying on guidebooks, following the story casually, walking around every corner of a town when I entered it. Come to think about it, for someone who considering SL as a different world from RL, SL itself could be a big RPG as a whole.
