Nose size
Recently there is an expression “Forgotten nose” which means that the less impressive nose, the more beautiful a girl is. Also, they say that any woman could be beautiful if there were no nose. Others say that there is no woman who likes her own nose. The nose complex is not only for me. My avatar shape is still the same as that I made twelve years ago, but recent mesh head has beautiful nose. I reported before that I was not able to find my favorite shape among various DEMOs so I tried to change my nose using my classic avatar.

The left in the above is the largest, and the right, the smallest. The right is almost same as my current shape, which means that my nose is rather small. In SL, they tend to prefer opposite style than RL. It could be one of the reasons why the Russian tends to make the nose small and the Japanese use long legs and big busts. In the net, the smaller nose seems to be preferable. The left is the beauty with the largest nose that I found in the net, and the right is in an article about makeup to look nose smaller. The left lady may feel some difficulty when kissing? I rather like the feeling to be pressed softly.

I imagined the original face of the right above person removing the finger. It is not necessary to make the nose small.

It was difficult to edit the shape of the DEMO, so I tried to modify the nose with Photoshop. While doing these, I am starting to feel that my RL nose is not so big. In a novel, there was a description to knead a chilled nose with both hands, but I never did. I modified my nose in my RL picture and showed it to him but he kindly said, “I prefer as is since the nostrils are cute and handy to close at CPR”, which made me happy a little. I gave up to find my favorite shape in the mesh avatars, so I will keep using the classic avatar for the time being.

Peeping Camera 2
Peeked into a head of a mesh demo-avatar.The left is just entered into the head. The cranium was cut off clearly. The inside of the new eyeball is black. On the right, the camera entered from the cheek. The tooth and tongue are made realistically for facial expression using them.

Now the camera is moved from the top of head to down, like a scan. The top right is at the eye level. The bottom left is at the nose that has only the contour and nothing in it. The bottom right is at the upper lip. The structure of teeth depends on the head maker. This one is very real but some is a simple curved plate painted as teeth. If you put weight on facial expression, it had better to check the structure before buying.

There are sets of tongue and teeth available as aftermarket parts. These are pictures in the net. The tongue is far advanced than classic avatar that was a simple pointy shape.

There is a logo mark of the maker in the head. It is a strange picture to see the eye from the back. There is a shape like a palatum mole. Nothing in the nose in this model too. The nose could be moved delicately like the lips. It might be cool if the nostrils flared softly or tremble with emotion…

If you did not feel well by watching eery pictures, please be healed by the beautiful profile of the demo heads. When you shoot your cute girlfriend, be careful not to put the camera too close else it may end up with an awful picture like the above.

Peeping Camera 1
One of the good things of SL is that the camera position can be set freely, even in a rock, the ground or avatar body. I picked up several pictures from my old articles that used strange camera positions. This is taken at the Baba public bath, from a camera set inside of my floating body. This is a classical avatar. How will it be with the current mesh avatars?

A female warrior in the transformation unit at the planet Pandora. The mask is misted with the breath. The head alone is breathing.

A guillotine set at a shop. When the blade comes down, the head drops in the barrel, but this head is a fake. For this picture I pasted my skin on the head in the barrel. I looked for my real head and found it folded back in my chest.

At a shore in Australia, there was a sign “Danger! Crocodiles inhabit this area”. I ignored it and was eaten by him.

I looked into the mouth but my body was not found, so I moved the camera in his body and found my body rolled up. My head was in one piece. At that time, I wore a swimsuit. What happened if I were wearing dress? A part of the clothing sticks out from the crocodile body? (I remberd that I changed the clothing since it did stick out.)

I was caught in a big shell, but at this time my body was just ducked and the face was natural.

Under the “Danger” sign, something dropped on my head and made eery sound, but the bag might be soft and my face was intact.

MRI at Athabasca University in Alberta, Canada. I enjoyed many universities in SL that I missed. When moving the camera from the top to down, eyes, tongue and teeth are coming in sight accordingly. Only these are in the head of classical avatars. In the next article, I will shoot the inside of current avatar head.

Parody arts
Recently my blog pictures are to modify the arts presented at UWA. I never had meant to ruin the arts. I would be happy if you were considering that those are my personally expanded interpretation of the original arts. When inserting myself, I picked up a suitable pose from my inventory, but there was not the one for “The Night Visitor”, so I made a new one using Photoshop, by arranging some parts from my various pictures. I was a bit excited since I felt as if I were cutting up my dead body. I am afraid that the result may not be suitable as a top page of the blog, I covered it with a glass again.

The pose I used in “Daughter of the Wind”. The left is a normal pose but it does not fit the direction of movement, so I flipped my lower body horizontally. It is necessary to match the lighting when shooting a picture for insertion. In this case, the flipped part does not follow the lighting from the top left and the shadows are wrong, but I left it as is since it is not noticeable.

“Transformation 331 for Humanoids”in the last article. Firstly, reference lines were set on a separate layer and then the avatar pictures were adjusted in position and size. At this distance, a single pose cannot be repeated, so several pictures should be taken with slightly different angles for each.

When suitable arrangement was done, the avatars should be cut out following the contour. Usually I am using the Lasso Select Tools, but on a single-color avatar like this, the Magic Wand is convenient. Once reached this stage, only things to do is to change the color as you like. At the color matching on the face close-up of “The Nightmare”, it was necessary to control patiently the contrast and brightness together with the color tint. Please understand that it is not so easy to make a parody.

Joy of 3D arts 3
“Transformation 331 for Humanoids” by Elle Thorkveld. “Everyone in life sometimes hits an obstacle in which, by passing through, they find they are truly transformed. In the future, this may also happen to humanoids. This is an artistic imagining.” This artist depicted the transformation with a change of skin texture. The multi-colored avatar in front changes affected by the wall texture.

There are four avatars set through the transformation but they are not clear. So, I erased the wall to show them. I also would like to experience the change and tried to find the same pose. In the previous article, “Daughter of the Wind”, there was a suitable one in my inventory but it was not this time. The shape looks like the one at the editing shape, so I used it. Since anyone could come into the stage, so I used the plain black skin.

In the art, the skin was influenced with the wall texture but I preferred more free transformation. These are green marble and silver skin that I used sometimes. My original shape is a bit poor for normal days but convenient for shooting since it looks similar to the ones used in arts. It might be somewhat standard shape resultingly.

Even trying to be free, if I would change the shape also, everything could be possible, so I changed the color only. But the one actually I made was the red one on the right end. Once a monotone skin was made, it is easy to change the color on the Photoshop. Also, it is possible to make them with real avatar with using hair and eyeballs that allow color editing.

I have got an approval from UWA to shoot pictures and use them in my blog, but does it cover to modify them?
Please forgive my tricks as a kind of poor parody-arts.
