Shooting Shadow

At an art SIM, I wore a wedding dress to match the situation, but when looking side, was surprised to see that may silhouette was nude. So, I went to a sunshiny island to shoot shadows. The gap at my foot is due to the Linden shadow setting that makes clearance at the contact point to the ground, not I am floating. That phenomenon can be seen on a tree shade.

Some dresses provide shadow and some, does not. It is OK with these kinds of normal gown.

It should be natural that a transparent part does not create shadow like shown in 1, but the shadow becomes almost vanished if the dress has some transparency like 2. I tried to change the transparency and found that 11 or under will provide black shadow, and 12 was the limit that makes a jump into almost transparent.

Even with a black dress, there is no shadow if the texture transparency was set 12 or more. 5 and 6 are wearing a long skirt with the same color under the dress. 7 and 8 are without the under skirts. The shadows in the 3 and 4 show the long under skirt. Normally a prim skirt is used together with a skirt with the same texture in order not to expose legs.

In order to avoid the nude silhouette, it is needed to set the transparency of the dress 11 or less, or to use a long under skirt with some flare. There is a shadow of the hair but the vail does not provide any shadow. It might be rare to go out under the sun with fully dressed up, but it is good to be careful when shooting memorial photos outside.

Composite 3/3

It is one of the joys of composite to do something that was impossible in RL. I visited here in RL but was not able to do like this. If you put your hand in and say something false, you cannot release your hand. What will happen if you say, “I will not be able to release my hand”?

A tour in a control room of a nuclear energy plant. The one in SL does not have this kind of detailed figures.

The abandoned city of Pripyat Ukraine near the Chernobyl. I noticed it only when I visited the SIM commemorating the incident. This is not the cite but a picture of the real city. Please see the article for that.

Very recent article. The ISS in the front window is pasted using a picture of it in SL.

Recently I have not gone skiing. I can ski like this but it is hard to take this kind of picture.

In California, there were some skiers with this kind of clothing. I wished to do like this…

It should be very cool if I can do this. I actually skied several times with T-shirts only.

Please visit my archives for other composite pictures.

Composite 2/3

The pictures last time were mainly modification with Photoshop. There are some with cutting and pasting real world pictures. This is to put my RL mask on my SL avatar.

Since I was not able to find a nice beaming face, I put some real picture on my avatar face.

The important matters in the cut-and-paste are to eliminate cutting line and to match the color. I modified the face to my taste but there was no way to make it natural.

This was to put myself in a 3D art. Please see the original.

This is also from the same article. My face was inserted into a famous painting. It was hard to match the color.

The left picture of my profile is not composite but real shot at the big fire at Edo castle. Please visit the old article.

Composite 1/3

Now there are some composite pictures that I used in my blog. Let me introduce main ones here. The composite is to make a picture that cannot be taken either RL or SL. This was made of an exhibited 3D arts to get a new one. Please visit an old article for the original.

I wore a cool dress exhibited in a 3D art. Please see the above for the original.

Since the sleeping and yawing face of an avatar were so beautiful, I put her under the water.

Sleeping Beauty of the sea. The face was retouched slightly.

I tried to do so too but it was impossible to be beautiful. It should be agonizing in real situation…

When I was writing an article for cosmetic surgery, I was shocked to see the nose job in the net.
In the operation, the nasal septum is cut first, and the nose is rolled up to the forehead to expose the nose bone. I tried to move my nose up in RL and surprisingly it is possible to turn it up to unexpected position.

Shooting Fireworks

For the first time in years, I took some pictures of fireworks at the Café Umikage of Kousei. A weeping cherry tree is in full bloom and there are some weeping fireworks to go with it.

There are some normal ones. The fireworks come on the hour, but the color is random and there is something simple.

Some of the features of SL fireworks are to blow out from one spot, and to use particles instead of fireballs. There was a nice show before. Please visit my old article. There were some other cases than fireworks to blow out various particles, such as a nuisance^-^.
Fireworks show:http://temisirbu.slmame.com/e433554.html

The ending is to shoot many ones as the convention. The Kousei’s cool café is on the sea with an open space and a pier.

The fireworks at the old Edo was using more than two hundred launching tubes in the twelve SIMs, but it was not equal to the real one. The good things of SL fireworks are to be able to jump into the fireball or to set the camera in it.
Fireworks at Edo:http://temisirbu.slmame.com/e202428.html

Naturally the real ones are overwhelming in the number and the size. The merit of SL is not only watching the fireworks but getting together and blasting party. The monthly festival at Edo had some fireworks every time. All in all, the joy of SL is not with the hardware but the people.

Shooting Aurora 2

I noticed that the Aurora has been at the SIM where I am playing the GO game often. This SIM is a kind of Oriental style, so the Aurora does not fit, but it is good to be able to watch it in a relaxed manner.

I did not see it since I was concentrated on the game. It could be cool to play GO with the Aurora as a backdrop. Please visit!
Go game:http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Satori/229/158/27

The Aurora tends to appear around the horizon here. Got a unique picture.

The creator of the Aurora is Antreas Alter, the same for that in the previous article. I searched other SIMs that are using the same one by Antreas. The Aurora might be a kind of wall paper with moving texture and the size can be adjusted to the area. This one is surrounding a small village. When I was a child in RL, I saw a rainbow appeared in front of a neighbor building. It was strange to watch a rainbow so close to me. This Aurora here is alike.

It does look realistic in the SIM made for it. This one seems to be covering the whole SIM.

Shooting Aurora

Visited Green Story to take pictures of Aurora. This is ever changing. It is a kind of challenge to express the dynamic figure within still pictures. I set the camera angle and framing, then kept waiting patiently. But often there were spectacles out of the camera, or when shooting it, the avatar posture was not suitable…
Green Story : http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Green%20story/159/72/30

There are many photos and movies of real Aurora in the net, so I tried to shoot realistic ones. The sun position is Midnight.

I have a misty memory to have seen real Aurora when I was very young. I think my father woke me up on an airplane to watch the Aurora. I remember that was a huge white curtain along the flying plane. This could be the closest one.

I wondered what kind of clothing is suitable for Aurora shooting, but it is not cold in SL and it is summer now, I stayed with the casual wear. This could be a typical SL photo though. Together with reindeer. The Aurora comes in at low close to the horizon, not over my head. The white dots are not star but falling snow. There was snowstorm at some place.

Since there is not enough sense of distance, it is sad that I cannot feel the spaciousness. It looks like bush fire depending on the angle. Standing in a bush I was afraid that the fire might come to me. I wish I could see the real one once more.

I have been searching and finally found a free mesh head that I can use, and changed my shape for the first time in twelve years. But nobody mentioned about it for two months. It is sad that there is no one who pays attention to my face… Last week, I went to the Baba dance area with a mask on my face that was set backward. Finally, someone noticed it.

Sunflower Field

There was an article of sunflower fields at Ueno SIM in my favorite page, The World of Yana. There is a site for sleeping at the Ueno, where I took several pictures of sleeping beauties. The field size will be revealed when standing at a high spot. This picture was modified by Photoshop for the depth. The modification is to copy the near area, scale down and paste it.
The world of Yana:http://yana.slmame.com/e1698945.html

This is the raw picture before modification. There are really so many! If the houses are eliminated further by draw distance, a part of sunflowers are also erased. It is possible to use the derender function but it is easer to erase them on the picture if modified later anyway.

The field can be seen huge by lowering camera.

The Sunflower’s vitality is amazing! A lot in a shack

Also, behind a large signboard.

In an abandoned factory too! Sunflower is one of my favorite flowers since it grows in clusters and looks bright and strong.

There is a reading lag recently. Got a picture like an aroid field covered by volcano ash.

Foxy Treasure Hunting

One of my ways to enjoy SL birthdays is to gather many free gifts. I will take as many as possible and later enjoy them one by one. This year again I got more than fifty boxes. This corner is a treasure hunting style. The small red box on the right below corner of the board is the one.

This is the site. It is too hard to find the small box in this beautiful mess. I tried hard but none I found. So, I brought up the big gun,

Firstly, I derendered whole frills in the site. But I found only a couple of them. So I used a huge cannon, AreaSearch. It shows the distance to the object, which brings me close. Once a box was found, it should be derendered to avoid double search. I found all sixteen boxes. They were set behind lamps or cobbles. Some of them are impossible to be found I imagine. The AreaSearch is also effective while strolling in the SL16B. If you keep setting the search for “gift”, it will tell you when they come close.

Modified pictures

My friend bought the ABARTH 595 in RL, so I made his favorite character. It will be hard to do this in RL but I would like to see this model in SL.

Now there are many beautiful sites as three-dimensional landscape pictures, but few free figurative arts and activities. The subjects of my page became modified pictures recently. This one is the original picture of my one in the article Powder ski. No relation to SL though…

Don’t you think that my one is more dynamic? I have been dreaming of doing something that I cannot do in RL like this, even now.

This is a cliche snapshot with no modification except lighting adjustment. It is too bad that nobody is doing something here….
