Bathhouse

There was a public bathhouse next to Baba Meeting Area befre, but that has been reserved at Kazumi’s land. Dressing room, big bathtub, and boiler room were set as they were, remembering the good old days. There is a huge stairs of Escher next to it. If you are interested in the public bathhouse, please ask Kazumi at Baba.

I thought it is possible to do the trick in two dimensional drawings and hard to make it with real structure, but she did it nicely. There was one spot with some misalignment in this object where I retouched in this picture, but it might be noticed only by the builder. That modification could be done on this object, but the most difficult issue may be the color. You can see the colors of four stairs are different because they are twisted each other. Surfaces with different angle will show different tint. It might be necessary to put some texture to hide the difference.

There is Kazumi’s beach below where seaside clubhouse will open in the summer. The foreground is public sea of nine SIMs. This is close to my home. I would like to have some ocean cruising race at this sea. Since my beach is too small, could it be possible to use this shore as the start line Kazumi?

The distance to the buildings on the other side of the sea is about 800m away, so it should be seen from here. I was waiting for long period but it did not come out, so I flew there, read them, and flew back. But the scene went out after a while. May be it is programed to erase them automatically since it might be very heavy to read so many SIMs all the time. It is good that it is not necessary to kick out nearby buildings by cutting down the viewing distance as my place. It was very nice to see a big yacht coming by at offshore sailing.

SL Wind

There were two arts presented by FreeWee Ling. She has decided to withdraw her entry from consideration for a price because of her peculiar position this time. The below is ‘Grasswinds’. The artist’s comments: “I often use SL wind detectors when I want a random vector generator. It's not often apparent, but there is in fact a continuously changing ambient wind, It primarily affects flexi prims and particles, but only when those features are intentionally set. The wind in SL shifts direction and speed, sometimes dramatically, but usually not.”

SL wind is also moving carp pennants or flags. We feel the wind when sailing yachts, but it has very different directions and speeds within fairly small distances. So we are using a race wind or personal wind with setting speed and direction variation manually.

There was a wind indicator that shows how the color changes. Actual color change seemed to have some delay, and the rapid wind change made different colors making cool gradation.

Red unicolour makes a group of shrine gate. The reason why I dressed up like pythoness was not for it but that I visited an art titled ‘Hera’s Temple of the Wind’ before this one.

In this ‘Crosswinds’, the lighting and rotation of the bars were also controlled by the wind. It does not repeat the same combination, so it kept me watching. The small figure at the bottom is me. Please feel the size.

UWA Air

UWA 3D Art Challenge that had been suspended for a while was started again. Visited the award announcement for August. Following ‘Portrait’ and ‘Perfume’, the theme this time was ‘Air’. September will be ‘Water’, October for ‘Fire’, and November, ‘Earth”. There were many strange avatars at the meeting.

I have seen a sea dragon like the right at an aquarium in RL Singapore. It was different from a tiny sea horse in Japan and had more than 20cm in size. There was splashier one than this.

This is Jayjay, director at UWA in SL. Since this time FreeWee acted as host, Jayjay seemed to be enjoying the free air.

An avatar at the middle is like the Quixote by Picasso reported before. Regarding the right one, I also tried to put stone or wood texture on my skin. Next time I would wear some skin with alpha channels. The far left is me. Normally I wear ordinal clothing when visiting a ceremony, but any clothing could be OK for UWA.

Above the site. Since the theme is ‘Air’, free balloons were provided for visitors. It is a kind of mess. Could this be called ‘air pollution’?

Cinema

The exhibition of September LEA is ‘Cinema - Take back the Ambiance’ by Mary Wickentower. I missed the grand opening due to the time difference. The theme may be a movie theater, not the movie itself. Passing through the entrance hall, it starts anticipating while ascending the dark stairway.

Abstract from the artist’s comment: “Take a trip down memory lane and take back the ambiance of an earlier time - a time of elegance, when going to the cinema was luxurious, and the theaters were Grand places; huge and ornate with immense balconies, high domed ceilings, massive red carpeted staircases and décor that rivaled the Vatican. Even the cozy, smaller theatres had a rich character, where you could ease back in splendid surroundings and suspend all worries, leave you tribulations behind and enter a world of imagination.”

“The real life movie cinemas of today are colorless and sterile places, much like the work cubical that we spend our lives in”. It is true that there is not so big difference between the cinema complex with multiscreen and a 52-inch home video. Here I can feel an excitement when sitting in the dark waiting for the start of previews.

There were also royal boxes. It could be OK for theaters but a royal box is not good at viewing movies. From the beginning a royal box might not be a place to view the stage but to let audiences to see the royal guests.

“I do not like the poor seat. I will sit here to see the movie!” I would like to give someone a hard time by insisting so.

I wish I were with a job (and figure ^-^) to stand like this. Once I had a chance to sit in a kind of royal box to make an interpretation at an academic conference. It was good to be able to watch both presenter and interrogators, but I had to worry about not being seen from the audience.

Black and White

There were two types in the arts, using black and white softly, and with strong contrast. I also dressed up with black and white. The skin is a shadow used in the Oddball last time.

Since it was almost closing time, there was no major animation and cubes were floating and rotating calmly. The local lighting was also set to show off black and white.

This was the original contrast, not enhanced with Photoshop.

Stairs like a building by Escher. It is amazing to see that only cubes could make these shapes with variations. I should try hard with my gallery.

Floating among rotating flying cubes. It gives me new pattern one after another. It is a joy to cut out a moment by shooting picture, which is different from a movie. It might be my excuse that I am not good at movie shooting.

A corner like walking through skyscrapers. Time flies while walking around and I was pressed. Someone said, “Many people say they are pressed for time, but they would do nothing if there were no time limit” Naturally, I am not sure that I would shoot these pictures so seriously if this could be seen any time.

There was a stairway built under the water too. There could be many places that I missed, but I think I at least caught the beautiful coordinated image. Again, thank all artists for the wonderful project!
